The Second Quarter Quell is coming to the big screen as Lionsgate releases the official announcement trailer for the upcoming film titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. View trailer below.
Explores Panem 24 years before Katniss’ saga, starting on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, where a young Haymitch Abernathy participates.
I figured that Lionsgate would do a trailer this, which they have done previously for when they announced The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes a few years back. Of course, I do remember when it was announced that the book was coming out in March 2025, which I am actual reading currently at this moment, and that the film adaptation of the book would be coming out in 2026. Like before, the preview trailer is merely showcases the announcement and title logo for the upcoming film and that’s pretty much it. Heck, they haven’t even begun filming yet and are just looking at the cast (at the time of this post). Overall, I’m excited to see what this movie has to offer and to what Haymitch’s participation in the 50th Hunger Games.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping opens in theaters on November 20th, 2026
